Description

Macallan Whisky Wooden Box 70cl / 700ml 43% ABV Produced in Scotland Since it's inception in 2002, Macallan's Fine and Rare collection has seen over 50 vintage releases and comprise some of the most sought after and singularly collectable bottlings from the distillery.  This 1940 distilled Macallan was first bottled by the independent bottler Gordon and Macphail in 1975 (making this a 35 year old Single Malt) it was then re-bottled officially by Macallan in 2002.  Bottled at 43% abv, 420 bottles of this particular vintage were produced. A peated expression, with a lovely mixture of floral delicacy on the nose that's joined by citrus fruit, toffee, vanilla pod, dried sultana and apricot and gentle charred smoke.  The palate is oaky with more dried fruit and sweet nuttiness (almond, coconut and cashew) aligned with caramelised apple flavour and more subtle smokiness.  The finish is drying with cinder toffee sweetness and spice and dying bonfire embers. A rare opportunity to possess a genuine piece of whisky making history.
