A Watermelon Cooler is the alcoholic (grown-up) version of watermelon punch. There are so many different varieties of this refreshing summer crowd-pleaser that we’re going to give you a bunch of different ideas to try before giving you the recipe for a straight-up Watermelon Cooler.
First of all, if you’re not a fan of Gin, substitute with Vodka. If you really want to get a powerful taste of watermelon in your drink, go all out and try making your cooler with Watermelon Vodka.
If you want to turn your cooler into a slushie, omit the soda and put the remaining ingredients in a blender with ice, adding two tablespoons of frozen concentrated watermelon juice. Blend thoroughly and watch-out for brain-freeze.
If you want a more flavourful drink, substitute ginger ale for the soda water and omit the sugar syrup.
Finally, you can increase all of the ingredients, keeping approximately the same ratios, to serve multiple guests. Cut your watermelon in half (lengthways), hollow it out, and use the empty rind as a serving bowl. Make sure you toss in lots of ice to keep it cold and float and handful of fresh mint leaved on top.
