Vodka and Coke is a mixed drink, but a bit of an odd one. As a rule of thumb, Vodka goes best with light mixers and Rum tends to pair with darker ones. So, for Vodka, most people use lemon-lime soda, lemonade, or tonic. The coke (or Dr. Pepper) gets saved for the White, Dark or Spiced Rum.
We’re going to give you the recipe for a Vodka and Coke without any embellishments, but if you find the taste a bit bland, we’ve also got some other suggestions for you.
First of all, Coke now comes in a variety of flavours, and any one of them will make your Vodka and Coke more lively. Cherry Coke is particularly good with Vodka, as is Coke with lime.
You should also try a flavoured Vodka with your Coke for something a bit different. Again, the fruit flavours work best so start with cherry, raspberry, lime or pineapple infused Vodka.
If you want to get really creative, combine the two. A measure of Peach Vodka in your Vanilla Coke will taste like peaches ‘n cream.
