When you’re serving drinks, to the neighbourhood, what ya gonna make? The Ghostbuster!!
This ghoulish green cocktail is is a sweet and fruity drink with a ghostly surprise lurking inside. It’s simple and quick to make with just peach schnapps and melon liqueur as the base and a drop of irish cream to make the ghostly apparition inside the drink.
Everyone knows and loves the 1984 classic move Ghostbusters starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver. Then of course the 2016 all-female reboot with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Is there any truth in ghostbusting though? Or is it all just made up for the screen?
Parapsychology, the basis of the Ghostbusters movie, is a field of science which investigates paranormal and psychic phenomena including telepathy, psychokinesis and experiences with apparitions or ghosts. It is said that most academics do not consider parapsychology seriously and so research is often forced to be done privately and publications only making it as far as the few niche areas. It started in and around 1853 in America with the chemist Robert-Hare.
In our modern day the shift of focus for parapsychology has moved from the United States to the UK with many leading universities still having studies and research groups active.
