This frightfully effective Halloween themed cocktail is an alcoholic take on a cherry cola and has an added visual delight perfect for impressing your friends at the Halloween party.

Although not the first vampire novel, Bram Stoker’s Dracula is certainly the most well-known and influential novel in vampire literature. It tells the tale of Count Dracula’s journey from Transylvania to England where he intended to spread ‘the curse of the undead’ and find fresh new blood on which to feed. Published in May 1897, the book is now over 100 years old but still widely read, studied and celebrated all over the world.

This cocktail is made to look like a darkly rich glass of the fresh new blood that Dracula was in search of and will have your guests squirming with excitement to try it. It is built in two layers, but you do not need any previous skill of floating drinks in order to get this cocktail looking perfect as it naturally falls this way when poured correctly.

The popular mix of grenadine and cola will give a nod to the famous non-alcoholic cocktail the Roy Rogers, but adding the black cherry vodka gives it an exciting injection of both alcohol and flavour. Here’s how to make the delicious Dracula’s Kiss cocktail:

  • 30 ml black cherry vodka
  • 15 ml grenadine syrup
  • 150 ml cola
  • Maraschino cherries to garnish
  • Ice

  1. Using the grenadine syrup, coat the inside bottom of a highball glass.
  2. Fill the glass with Ice and pour over the vodka.
  3. Fill the glass with the cola drink.
  4. Garnish with the Maraschino cherries.
