There are some cocktails that just scream “vacation”. Whether it’s an island cocktail that tastes like beach and sunshine, or a classic martini that you’ve always associated with the concept of “leisure”; a lot of these drinks include rum.
The Nevada Cocktail is no exception, and since Nevada is the state that encompasses the world-famous vacation and gambling capital of Las Vegas, it’s only right that the drink be sweet and refreshing, as well. Las Vegas also offers drinks at every hour, and one great aspect about the Nevada cocktail is that it can be ingested at any time, and isn’t associated with a specific time of day.

The beauty of the Nevada cocktail is that its a great cocktail to serve at any time that is still fruity and citrus-y, but instead of offering the typical lemon or orange juices, goes with the highly underrated grapefruit juice. For some, this might be tart, so adjusting the amount of sugar might help for these pickier drinkers. A common garnish is either an orange or lemon peel, but no garnish is necessary whatsoever for this drink. Another additional option is either replacing the sugar with simple syrup, or simply adding the syrup, if you enjoy a sweeter cocktail. There are some that even choose to create the Nevada cocktail as a daquiri, which could be effective during a hotter summer day, for example. It is fair to say that if you dont enjoy grapefruit juice, however, that this might not be the drink for you. Regardless, you dont have to be in Nevada to enjoy a Nevada cocktail, at any time of day. Enjoy!
