You’re humming the first bars already, aren’t you?
This cocktail is exactly what Audrey Hepburn should be sipping in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the movie for which Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer composed the timeless tune. It later became the signature song for Andy Williams, who sang the first eight bars before every episode of his show.
Like the song, this cocktail has become an elegant classic. It includes a touch of Galliano, an Italian herbal liqueur flavored with anise, juniper, lavender, peppermint, cinnamon and vanilla.
Galliano’s vivid yellow colour comes from a mixture of caramel and tartrazine, and will give your Moon River Cocktail its characteristically warm glow. Gin is made, among other things, from juniper berries and botanicals, thus has always been a natural partner when a cocktail recipe calls for Galliano.
We bet you anything you can’t put together this lovely cocktail, sip it in the warmth of a summer evening, and never hear the tune running on a loop through your subconscious. Go on. Bet you can’t do it.
