There are all sorts of drinks that are named after iconic cities, or associated with powerful countries, but there are few cocktails that are named after a single street. However, Madison Avenue is not just any street. In fact, it is widely considered to be one of the most expensive and luxurious streets in the world, and is home to countless high-end luxury brands that are known the world over.
Madison Avenue is also widely associated with the advertising industry, which is why it was the backdrop to the award-winning TV show “Mad Men” (Mad, short for Madison), which was a series that documented the rise of advertising in the United States during the 1960s, and after. It probably isn’t too surprising that the larger-than-live avenue has its own drink named after it.

In essence, the Madison Avenue Cocktail is a more sophisticated version of the Mojito, with a couple of sophisticated additions such as the Cointreau and garnishes to make it more of a cocktail than a party drink. Of course, that doesnt mean it isnt just as enjoyable. The drink was actually born on the same street as its name, in a bar named Weylin Bar, around 1936, by a gentleman named Eddie Woeke. Of course, you dont have to be on the avenue, or even in New York City, for you and your loved ones to enjoy the drink.
