The Hypnotic Martini has a quite loaded name that immediately brings to mind a set of high expectations – a martini described as hypnotic must be visually unique and exciting, and taste as strong as powerful as the feeling of hypnosis. The Hypnotic Martini does definitely deliver on both ends, but another reason why it is known by this name is because it incorporates a liqueur known as Hpnotiq. This alcoholic drink is a 35 proof fruit liqueur that is a delicious (secret family recipe) blend of Cognac, Vodka, and several tropical fruit juices.

Although the correct spelling for this drink, whose name sake is a particular Brand liqueur, is Hpnotiq, but of course due to the difficult spelling which is hard to both pronounce and spell, the drink thus often ends up being spelled very differently; either Hypnotiq, Hpnotic, Hypnotique and of course the most common, Hypnotic. By any of these spelling variations, know that the drink recipe is the same. As although the name spelling is subjected to numerous alterations, the recipe largely remains untouched, because it is impossible to improve upon perfection.

There is something to be said about this cocktail being called what it is; after drinking one of these, you are sure to be mesmerized. It is a sweet drink that reminds one’s palate of tropical fruit juices and flavours thanks to the Pineapple Juice and Coconut Rum, yet the Hpnotiq Martini has a curious flavour that has hints of sweetness and a strong flavour of alcohol due to the Vodka, and also tastes of a citrusy edge, and notes of flowers and dried fruits due to the Cognac.

Here is a recipe for this scintillating Martini

Ingredients:

  • 120 ml Hpnotiq
  • 60 ml Malibu
  • 60 ml Pineapple Juice

Preparation:

  1. Add ice to a cocktail shaker
  2. Introduce all three ingredients into the shaker
  3. Shake until the outside of the shaker is frosted
  4. Pour into a Martini glass
  5. Garnish with pineapple wedge before serving

Equipment:

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Ice cubes
  • Martini glass
  • Pineapple wedge for garnish
