There are probably as many different versions of the Gatsby cocktail as there are student papers on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s timeless tale. What they all have in common, however, is the power to evoke the roaring twenties complete with flappers, jazz and prohibition.
We’re going to show you how to make a classic Gatsby, perfect for sipping on the verandah when you’ve nothing better to do than watch the gardener tend to your immaculate flower beds. If you’ve got a little sax music on your CD shelf, now would be the time to put it on.
For a more boisterous cocktail, add 30ml of Vodka and reduce the Southern Comfort to 30ml. But we think you’ll like this version just the way it glides.
Here’s what you need:
- 45ml Southern Comfort
- 20ml Lime Juice
- Dash of Ginger Ale
- Lime garnish
- Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
- Add the Southern Comfort.
- Add the Lime Juice.
- Fill remainder with Ginger Ale.
- Stir and garnish with a wedge of lime.
