There are all sorts of amazing fruits that are incorporated into cocktails all around the world, such as pineapples, mangoes, cherries, raspberries, apples, lemons, limes, and oranges. However, a fruit that can perfectly fit many cocktails but isn’t used as much is the pear – and maybe that’s why the martini stands out so much.

After all, the subtle hint of a pear is perfect for the sophistication of the martini, and they fit together beautifully in this mixture of fizz and fruit. But, alas, there is another “f” that is here to surprise you – flora! Indeed, the French Pear Martini incorporates the elderflower, which perfectly mixes with the pear flavor to help this martini take on a life of its own.

  • 1.5 ounces of St. Germaine’s elderflower liqueur
  • 1.5 ounces of pear vodka
  • 3 ounces of champagne

  1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker over ice.
  2. Strain into a martini glass.
  3. Top with champagne!

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Martini glass

As mentioned earlier, this martini combined fruit, flora and fizz – all in one, which exemplifies how complex that modern cocktails can be.  It truly is remarkable that all of these flavors are capable of coming together to create the perfect light spring cocktail. This cocktail allows for two DIY options for the adventurous – one can make their own pear vodka, AND their own elderflower cordial.

Of course, if the situation is time-sensitive or you are focusing more on the mixology than making your own, there’s no problem with purchasing the best pear vodka and elderflower liqueur you can find. The drink is often rimmed with refined sugar, if you feel like giving the martini a sweet aftertaste.  This particular martini is considered one of the more elegant and exclusive martinis, so it might be best presented at a more upscale function, whether it’s a brunch you have planned for a long time or a dinner party full of esteemed guests. The bottom line is that the French Pear Martini is a sparkling and sensational cocktail that has aromas of flowers, champagne, and fruit – and there simply aren’t too many cocktails as comprehensive. Enjoy a French Pear Martini today!
