The Fat Frog drink is better known in Europe than in the States, and particularly popular in the UK, ranking among the top 10 most popular drinks of Ireland. The drink itself is the bright green colour often associated with Ireland itself, and is most frequently made out of the three most common European “alcopops” or malt drinks. It can often be a brand specific drink due to these reasons as well, particularly in the places where this cocktail has garnered more local popularity.
The end result of mixing together the three popular alcopops is a nuclear green shade, the likes of which is hardly ever seen in any other cocktail (hence the name The Fat Frog Cocktail). This eye-catching cocktail is heralded for its flavour, as well as for the fact that it is a very quick way to achieve a strong buzz due to the noticeably high alcohol content.
In terms of flavour, this cocktail is a fast favourite for most who may have enjoyed “Fat Frog” ice lollies/ice pops growing up as a kid, as the two flavours are often compared and would explain the name of the drink. Most often served in a pint glass, lovers of the cocktail warn that two pints of this drink will have anyone completely floored. Alcopops are wildly popular on their own particularly in Irish pubs and around the rest of Europe, therefore these cocktails do great business and are commonly ordered by lads during a night out.
