There certainly aren’t too many cocktails that reference anything from the Bible, but the Dusk in Eden would prove to be the exception. Eden is considered “Paradise” in the Bible, or the Garden of God, that is referenced in the beginning of the Bible (Genesis).
The reason why the drink is named that is because both Adam and Eve (the first human beings) were punished for eating an apple, and the Dusk in Eden Martini is a vodka martini that incorporates apple. It also includes a pomegranate flavor, which is a fruit that is also referenced in the Bible many times.
- 1 ½ ounces of vodka
- 1 ounce of apple juice
- 1 large slice of pomegranate
- 1 dash of simple syrup
- Pomegranate seeds (amount adjustable)
- Muddle the pomegranate and syrup in the cocktail shaker.
- Add the vodka and apple juice, over ice.
- Shake well.
- Strain into the martini glass.
- Use the pomegranate seeds as a garnish.
- Muddling spoon
- Cocktail shaker
- Martini glass
The seeds as a garnish are optional, of course. The drink is much better if the apple juice is freshly squeezed, as well. When done correctly, the cocktail will be a beautiful clear tone, but if too many filtered juices are used, it will appear cloudy. It is essentially a fruity martini that is a little more discreet than the obvious choices of the apple or watermelon martini, for example. The fact that it incorporates these fruits means that it makes sense for the summer or spring seasons, than the fall or winter. The great thing about the martini is that it isnât overwhelmingly sweet, and the vodka balances the overall taste well. Of course, for the best possible version, one can make a homemade simple syrup as well. Regardless, for a great fruity martini, try a Dusk in Eden today!
