Okay, we understand – getting over the hilariously weird name of this cocktail may take a while. But once you get past laughing over the name/being put off by it, most discover that they love this cocktail for its creamy and delicious taste.

The Duck Fart cocktail was originally created in Anchorage, the largest city of the state of Alaska, in a famous Alaskan cabin Sports Bar called the Peanut Farm. This is a layered cocktail, and the Peanut Farm’s justification for using such a ridiculous name is that it is named after the sound one typically makes after throwing back one of these cocktails.

This Alaskan original cocktail has been around for almost three decades, and has swiftly gained popularity around the States due to its strange and silly name, and the potency of the drink, whether it is served as a cocktail or as a round of shots.

This quirky (or should we say quacky?) drink is the embodiment of fun; it is fun to order, fun to make, and even more fun to pour it down. It is a smooth and creamy cocktail, layered with Irish Cream, Whiskey and Kahlua. They say that the Duck Fart cocktail is to Alaska, what the Mai Tai is to Hawaii, or what the Mojito is to Cuba. It is surprisingly tasty considering its name, and for most first-timers it usually ends up becoming a fast favourite.

The Duck Fart cocktail is also easy to make at home, and is best enjoyed with a big group of friends. Here is a recipe for this fun cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 30 ml Kahlúa
  • 30 ml Baileys Irish Cream
  • 15 ml Crown Royal Whiskey

Preparation:

  1. Pour the Kahlúa into a 3-ounce shot glass.
  2. Pour the Baileys’ Irish Cream over a bar spoon onto the Kahlúa, and do not stir after
  3. Using the same method, slowly pour the Whiskey on top
  4. Serve immediately

Equipment:

  • 3-ounce Shot Glass
  • Bar spoon
