The Double-O-Seven, also known as the Seven-and-Seven, is a very popular and well-loved Whiskey Highball which has never gone out of style, and never will. If you find yourself craving a revitalizing shot that will wake you up in a big way, the Double-O-Seven is the way to go. This deliciously sweet drink is cheap if you want to order it at a bar, and incredibly easy to mix up yourself if you would rather enjoy it at home.
This cocktail is a throwback drink that grew wildly popular during the 1970’s, the decade when its signature Whiskey was in the greatest demand. The name is inspired from its own ingredients. There’s no mystery behind what goes into it, and there’s no need to add any fancy ingredients to enhance this class. It is a simple mixture of Seagram’s 7 Crown Whiskey, to which 7-Up soda is added.
Some cocktail enthusiasts may find the sweet and simple Double-O-Seven too meek or basic in the face of today’s plethora of complex cocktails with their fancy ingredients, gradient hues and elaborate garnishes. However, there is a particular appeal to enjoying a vintage mixed drink without any added flairs and thrills. For a pleasant pick-me-up, and its ingredients, united by the number 7, taste as though they were made for each other. Regardless of the reason, drinkers keep coming back for more of this classic drink and will probably continue to do so for a long time.
