The Dirty Mokey cocktail is considered a verified staple of almost every Caribbean beach resort. This sweet and refreshing cocktail tastes a lot more like a dessert than it does like an alcoholic drink that’ll get your buzz going. What food does one think of when one hears a drink with the word monkey in it? Of course, the delicious banana.
The Dirty Monkey cocktail is made with rich creamy bananas mixed in with the smooth brown of coffee liqueur to which Crème de Cacao is added, and the mixture of these three flavours and colours is what gives the Dirty Monkey drink its eye catching name. When the banana, chocolate, and coffee flavours combine in the midst of creamy milk, the result is a smoothie-like cocktail which is ideally drunk with a beachy breakfast, a sunny brunch, or a lazy day spent sunning by the pool side or basking at the beach.
When you first see this cocktail, you may even confuse it with a flavoured frozen coffee drink like a Frappuccino or Macchiato due to its chocolatey-beigey shades and drizzle of chocolate syrup which most bartenders like to add at the end. Those who try the drink for the first time often compare the taste to a chocolate banana smoothie. This yummy libation is known as a banana of a good time, and if it was known by any other name it would probably be called a banana mudslide.
