The Dirty Banana is far more delicious than its dirty sounding name lets on. Although most would categorize this fun drink as yet another beach favourite, this cocktail is also the perfect drink for Happy Hour if you’ve been dreaming about a sweet chocolate-y treat.
This cocktail is often made for parties because of how easy it is to whip up, so long as you have its basic ingredients lying around. It will definitely take your taste buds away on a Jamaican vacation because of its beachy tastes and the incorporation of rum. The Dirty Banana is a frozen drink which is famously served at all the beach bars in the Caribbean, as well as around the world. This cocktail tastes so much like a milkshake that you might even forget that it’s supposed to be a cocktail, but be warned, that it is a very “dirty” drink, full of Rum, Kahlua and Banana liqueur, and will soon have you singing sea shanties like a pirate or monkeying around if you’re not careful.
Although it is essentially a fun-loving cocktail with an adventurous persona, the incorporation of the aged rum adds an earthy colour to the drink as well as hints of depth. To double up on the banana goodness of the drink, many bartenders and amateur mixologists choose to add a whole ripe banana to the mix before blending. If you’ve ever wanted a boozy banana split in a glass, the Dirty Banana is as good as it gets, and this sweet and frosty cocktail is many a drinker’s guilty pleasure.
