This is one very special cocktail. Not for the faint at heart or stomach this requires some serious determination and love of chocolate to drink!
This dessert cocktail has a base of vodka and both coffee and chocolate liqueurs, topped with chocolate ice cream, chocolate syrup and whipped cream with a maraschino cherry on top. The perfect transition from a slap-up meal into an evening of cocktails and fun.
The original recipe calls for standard vodka to be used but for those who have an extra sweet tooth the newer flavoured vodka might be a special replacement within this recipe. Why not try vanilla vodka, or marshmallow vodka or even chocolate flavour vodka for those whose Death by Chocolate just isn’t chocolatey enough!
To make this cocktail perfect for a Halloween party why not replace the cherry on top with candy body parts like sweet teeth or eye balls, then use strawberry sauce to drizzle over the whipped cream like blood dripping down from the body parts… the remnants of those who had tried and failed to take on the glorious Death by Chocolate.
To make your sickly-sweet Death by Chocolate cocktail:
- Crushed Ice
- 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream
- 30 ml chocolate syrup
- 30 ml coffee liqueur
- 30 ml dark crème de cacao liqueur
- 30 ml vodka
- Whipped cream to top
- Maraschino cherry to garnish
- Into a blender add the ice, ice cream syrup and spirits
- Blend until smooth
- Pour into a stemmed cocktail glass
- Top with whipped cream and a cherry
