A Punch bowl is an excellent addition to any party, Halloween included, and this Deadly Scorpion punch recipe is just the thing to make for your friends!
The Scorpion recipe is an age old tiki punch cocktail and as it has evolved throughout the years there are many ways to make it. It began as a Hawaiian cocktail that was served with a local moonshine drink called Okolehao. This moonshine is an ancient drink made from the root of the Ti plant. It was discovered that if the Ti tree root is baked it produces a sweet liquid that, along with the fermentable sugar from the starch in the root ferments and produces a drink. This was drunk as is for many years until the English in the 1700s introduced the method of distilling the drink. It then became a very alcoholic spirit which was adored by King David Kalakau.
The Scorpion then became the cocktail that was drank with this new distilled drink. Victor Bergeron of the chain restaurant Trader Vics in California, visited the island on holiday one year and enjoyed the cocktail so much that he brought it back to his restaurant. Rum soon became the spirit of choice and the punch bowl was created.
