The Bocce Ball is one of those cocktails that may not have a storied history or be ridiculous popular but is simply a great drink that is easily memorized and beloved by people the world over. It certainly doesn’t hurt that it happens to taste amazing, as well! It may be named after the bocce ball game that traces back to ancient Romans, but it certainly is a modern cocktail that is simple but effective.
It’s perfect for when you may want to slow down for a lower-proof drink, or as a brunch accompaniment. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you can make a Bocce Ball shot to kick things up a notch!
- 1.5 ounces of vodka
- .5 ounce of amaretto
- 6-8 ounces of orange juice
- 1 splash of soda water (optional)
- Pour the vodka, amaretto, and orange juice over the ice in the Collins glass.
- Add an optional splash of soda water.
- Collins glass
The drink is already a light one, but you can feel free to garnish the drink with an orange slice if you choose to. Of course, depending on your mood, you can temper how strong you want to make the drink, relative to the amount of orange juice that you are pouring. If you require a little more flavor, there’s nothing wrong with trying out a flavored vodka. Regardless, the combination of amaretto and orange juice help create a citrus/almond flavor that can truly make the perfect casual drink. If you feel like adding a dash of refreshing soda, feel free, although it certainly isn’t necessary. There’s nothing like a customizable and casual drink like a Bocce Ball that isn’t either pretentious or hard to make. Remember to drink responsibly!
