This star trek inspired drink is a stunningly layered shot that will wow your party guests not only visually but in smooth creamy taste as well. There are three main parts to this drink; the bottom layer is a coffee liqueur on the bottom, followed by a banana cream liqueur and then Irish cream liqueur on the top. It will go down smoother than the enterprise can fly through cyber space.
The cult T.V. show Star Trek started back in 1966 with the original series starring William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk. It quickly become a cult sci-fi favourite and has since had thirteen film tie ins and 6 TV sequel series after the original ran its course.
The Character our cocktail is named for, Montgomery Christopher Jorgensen Scott or ‘Scotty’ was in the original series and many of the sequel movies. He was also a big favourite in the animated Star Trek series and many of the comic books also. He was originally played by James Doohan from 1966 – 1994 and now in the modern Star Trek movies Simon Pegg plays the part.
The well-known catch phrase began in the early TV series as Montgomery Scott or ‘Scotty’ was the engineer on board the ship. It became a line well known and used throughout popular culture but did you know that the exact phrasing in the Star Trek episode was different? Captain Kirk actually says “Scotty, beam me up.”
