Around The World Cocktail Recipe

The Around The World cocktail sounds like quite a well-travelled and globally renowned cocktail, and it is. This international jetsetter of a cocktail combines unlikely flavours to bring together a final flavour which people find agreeable regardless where they are from, and what cocktails they are used to.

As far as cocktails go, the Around The World drink definitely has great international appeal and a memorable flavour. It can also be found in bars across the world as more bartenders are familiar with its recipe, and it is easy to mix up at home as well. The yellowish glow emanating from an Around The World is attributed to its flavourful mixture of yellow syrupy and tart pineapple juice with sweet and mint-flavoured green Crème de menthe. When a maraschino cherry is dropped in at the end, it creates a slight red glow at the bottom of the glass, which is just barely visible through the glass.

The cocktail itself is definitely a good looking drink, but many new to drinking or unfamiliar with the cocktail may be put off by the ingredients, as they don’t sound like they would normally be mixed together. However, the best of the cocktail recipes contain highly contrasting flavours coming together to make the perfect concoction. Most bartenders and amateur cocktail makers recommend not to overdo the menthe, as it is an extremely aromatic and strongly flavoured liqueur that quickly dominates all other flavours in its presence.

Here is a recipe for the Around The World cocktail.


  • 2 Dashes of Crème de Menthe
  • 120 ml Dry Vermouth
  • 60 ml Pineapple Juice
  • 1 Whole Maraschino Cherry


  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes
  2. Add all three liquid ingredients into the shaker and shake briskly for 10-15 seconds
  3. Strain into a pre-chilled cocktail glass
  4. Add the maraschino cherry in the end
  5. Garnish with a spear of pineapple
