From the region of Provence in South East France, this rose wine is available in limited quantities. Beautiful light pale pink color. Fantastic bouquet with delicate aromas of white fruit just-picked strawberries and floral notes. The mouth is complex with raspberry and wild strawberry notes, wild herbs and citrus. It has a refreshing acidity from the high-altitude location and a long, round and vibrant finish. A perfect Rose wine for your Christmas family dinner.
Joe Fattorini's Tasting Note: "Sniff the aromas of Provence. Smell the 'garrigue' hillsides. Enjoy the fragrances of the rich and famous. You glass fills straight away with wild strawberries and herbs. And when you sip it, the wine has a cooling freshness for a day in the sun. Brad and Angelina, is this what your life smells like?"
Ideally served chilled as an aperitif or with light dishes, Provencal cuisine, and picnics.
Food Pairing Suggestions: Fruit & Creamy Desserts, Chocolate, Foie Gras
For the fun fact that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought the vineyard and I knew that would be a silly talking point with friends on a summer evening, but boy oh boy, they bought a cracking chateau with superb vineyard and left the team there to keep producing fabulous wines.
This exceptional red wine derives its name from the Renaissance town of Montepulciano, located in the province of Siena. The term "Nobile" seems to originate from the fact that in the past its production was reserved exclusively for the aristocratic, noble families of the town. The Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva 2010 is aged for 2 years in large Slavonian oval oak barrels, with a small part in French oak barrels, before bottling, which gives the wine earthy dark licorice tones, a smooth palate with lovely weight and an elegant, long finish.
Joe Fattorini's Tasting Note: "Enjoy the refined tannins and rich, bitter cherry fruit of Sienna's 'Noble Wine' in this delicious wine. This is perfect with rich beef dishes with its distinguished leather and oak spice aroma"
Food Pairing Suggestions: Aged Cheese, Game, Beef.
The wine is aged for 21 months in 70 percent new French Nevers oak, 30 percent second fill Nevers and Allier barrels. Deep in color with a purple hue. Aromas of red plums, some floral notes, cedar and sweet spice.
Joe Fattorini's Tasting Note: "I have a real soft spot for Rubicon, a left-bank Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This is still very young and the purple hue and bright fruit will withdraw, replaced by tobacco and cedar and a russet tinge. Today that sweetness matches with venison, but if 10 years, I'd be pairing this with a grouse or even a pheasant."
Each parcel was fermented separately to monitor vineyard expression. The Cabernet were given lengthy maceration to ensure complete extraction of the perfectly ripe fruit, but the Merlot was given even longer post-fermentation maceration to encourage complete polymerization of complex tannin and add a broad, juicy and silky texture to the blend.
The finest English sparkling wine, perfect for occasions like Christmas Family dinner. A rich nose of bergamots and Bramley apples, ripe citrus fruits and focused minerality on the palate.
Joe Fattorini's Tasting Note: "Vintage sparkling wines are less a reflection of the house style than the vintage. 2007 wouldn't strike you as an auspicious year - floods in June and July led to one of the biggest rescue efforts in peacetime Britain. But by October the fruit was ripe enough to make this delicious apple and brioche scented wine. It's evolving into a complex and multi-layered treat now.
Food Pairing: Enjoy with fine fish and even white meat dishes, like a sparkling white Burgundy. You won't regret it. A perfect sparkling wine for your Christmas family dinner.
The Hochar family's who manages Musar Vineyards have deep respect for the environment. Their 180 hectares of Musar vineyards are managed with minimal human interference and all the wines are made as naturally.
The wine shows impressive aromas of blueberries, ripe blackberries, cherries and plum fruitcake. The palate is initially soft and round with primary fruits of blackberry, plum, red cherries and pomegranate with some chocolaty spicy notes in the background. It opens up with mouth-filling berry fruit and delicious notes of concentrated dark fruits and molasses.
It really begins to impress in the mid palate where it holds its' intensity and structure effortlessly all the way to the end. The alcohol is well integrated with elegant but youthful tannins - it is a well-balanced wine with good underpinning acidity and a compelling structure. A perfect Cabernet Sauvignon wine for your Christmas family dinner.
Joe's Tasting Note: "It's not the unique Cabernet Sauvignon blend that makes this special, or even coming from the Bekaa Valley. It's Musar's unique smokey, pungent twist on the cassis and currants of Cabernet; the added cigar box and prune aromas. One of the world's great wines, thriving in a sometimes war zone.
Food Pairing Suggestions: The wine should be allowed to breathe for several hours and served at 18°C with roasts, grills (especially lamb), casseroles, game, and mature cheeses.
Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir wine is perfect for your Christmas dinner. With an inviting, smoky nose of plum and black cherries, our Pinot Noir 2013 has overtones of baking spices and leather.
A soft palate entry supplemented by chalky tannins builds structure towards an intense, brooding finish. A perfect Pinot Noir Wine for your Christmas Family dinner.
Food pairings Suggestions: Duck with wild cherry jus, Venison carpaccio, Tuna sashimi with soy sauce and Blue cheese.
It may seem a little expensive for this wine, but it has to be appreciated that it is quality, far superior to "plonk" at £5/bottle, at a supermarket. Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc is in a class of its own.
Located in the Marlborough region, the vineyards of Cloudy Bay are spread out to maximize the diversity of micro-climates and soil types for their grapes. Without this, we wouldn't have their fantastic Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, which has a varied and fantastically bright selection of fruity notes, including sharp citrus, stone fruits, and lemongrass. It's a perfect white wine for you Christmas family dear.
